Morson are recruiting a Quality Engineer to join our leading Bristol based defence client on an initial 6 month contract. Candidates must be ok to work full time in Bristol, expenses are not paid.
The Quality Engineer will:
• Coordinate the activities of Goods Inwards, so that backlogs and inspection turnaround times are within organisation targets.
• Work with the cross-functional discipline personnel, helping to achieve delivery milestones and ensuring a fit for purpose / quality product to the customer.
• Comply with as appropriate the organisation’s quality policies, plans and procedures.
• Undertake internal surveillance and spot audits on the Norton site to ensure compliant product and compliance with our BMS system.
• Identification and control of Non-conformance from containment to preventative action, including trend monitoring, conducting/supporting investigations and working closely with the supply chain quality team to prevent supplier escapes into the business.
• Able to interpret specifications, standards and drawings and apply quality principles to establish quality requirements.
• Carry out dimensional checks of components to engineering drawings using traditional measuring equipment and portable CMM.
• Carry out visual checks for any surface flaws, paint quality and identification requirements.
• Monitor performance against our organisational goals and use appropriate tools and techniques to drive improvement.
• Promote / help drive the “Quality Control to Quality Assurance” ongoing strategy within Mission Systems.
• Demonstrate a positive safety culture ensuring compliance to the company procedures and awareness of potential hazards.
Key Skills and Knowledge:
At least 5 years’ experience in an Engineering Inspection role.
Lean awareness
Ability to Read and interpret engineering drawings, procedures and supporting documentation.
Report, procedure writing skills.
Ability to analysis data and produce trend charts to aid Lean Activity.
Knowledge of workshop protocols.
Good understanding of IT office systems (word, excel, outlook, power point)
Strong written and oral communication skills
Work under own initiative
Can-do attitude and a willingness to make change and support across functions.
Qualifications
Quality related qualifications would be desirable, ideally to degree level.
Quality experience in related activity more important than qualifications.
Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance
