Morson are currently recruiting for a Technical Illustrator, to support the technical publications across projects for one of our prestigious defence clients based in Bristol. You will be supporting Electronic Warfare development projects, producing technical publication used by the Royal Navy. The technical publications team work across multiple projects and need support from a Technical Illustrator who is capable of originating graphics that comply with S1000D in 3D multimedia.
Training will be provided to support development in 3D multimedia design. Ideally you will have a background in supporting defence equipment or the support of mechanical/electrical/communication systems. Graphics will be developed in compliance with the international specification for Technical Publications, ASD-S1000D Issue 4.1. The role is being offered on a contract basis, on a 18 month contract with hybrid working. We can offer a rate of £30.33 per hour PAYE or £40 per hour Umbrella.
Responsibilities
- You will be expected to develop graphics in compliance with the international specification for Technical Publications, ASD-S1000D Issue 4.
- You will analyse complex technical information to produce high quality technical documentation which will enable an end-user to operate and maintain the equipment correctly and safely.
- The successful candidates will report to the Technical Information Manager who will provide professional knowledge and direction and to a Project Manager in the appropriate delivery area for your output.
- You’ll be responsible for communicating at all levels with both customers and stakeholders.
Essential requirements
- Able to work within S1000D Issue 4.1.
- Experience of Isometric / 2D Illustrations.
- Use of 3D CAD , as well educated with a minimum of an accredited technical graphics qualification with previous experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD).
- Experience of supporting defence equipment or the support of mechanical/electrical/communication systems.
- Familiar with the use of desktop publishing including Adobe Acrobat and MS Office, digital imaging software and spreadsheets.
Desired Requirements
- Able to work within S2000M.
- Experience of 3D Animation.
- CSDB / IETP Management using EAGLE Toolset.
- Adobe Acrobat Professional.
- Qualifications specific to Technical Communication or have membership with a professional body such as the Institute of Science and Technical Communicators (ISTC).
Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance, SC must be in place before start date.
