Highways Engineering Manager

Morson Talent is currently recruiting for a Highways Engineering Manager to be based in Matlock, working 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. This role is an initial 12-month contract, deemed inside IR35, with potential for extension. The project is set to commence as soon as possible.

Although most technical work will be conducted from the Manchester and Birmingham offices, the candidate must be available to travel to Matlock on a weekly or monthly basis. The position offers hybrid working arrangements, allowing for a mix of home, office, and client-side work.

The project is expected to last approximately one year, with the possibility of extending to subsequent phases, such as the business case, if planning permission is granted. The client seeks a client-facing Highways Project Manager to lead the development of a planning application for a proposed Relief Road in Derbyshire. The route selection is complete.

Key requirements include:

• Experience in guiding a highways scheme through the planning process.
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with the client and Jacobs back-office staff.
• Political awareness, given the potential sensitivity of the bypass project.
• Commercial acumen to manage costs effectively while adhering to the project timeline.

The ideal candidate will be well-versed in highways engineering but comfortable with a multi-disciplinary approach.
