Morson are working with a Defence Company who are looking for someone to work away from home on Sonar systems.

Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared 

Primary Purpose of Job

  • Based either a Customer/User operational site, the primary purpose of the Field Support Engineer Role is to:
  • Provide technical support and assistance to the User/Customer at nominated locations around the world. This assistance may be purely advisory, a full maintenance activity or a mixture of both.
  • Key tasks and accountabilities
  • Respond to technical queries, acting as a single point of contact for the User community.
  • Log technical queries on the appropriate database as required.
  • Advise progress on all ongoing tasked activities.
  • Carry out technical evaluations of new instructions, publications and procedures.
  • Co-ordinate on-base technical investigations, liaising with external agencies and other Operating Bases as required.
  • Liaise directly with the User/Customer with respect to technical schedule issues.
  • Be the Subject Matter Expert for the allocated equipment
  • Assist users to achieve the highest possible reliability and performance from the system/equipment.
  • Assist, when requested, with fault diagnosis to the appropriate level employing BITE, computer software confidence checks and support equipment.
  • Work with the User/Maintainer to minimise wrong diagnosis and needless return of equipment/LRUs.
  • Work with or as the maintainer to ensure a high standard of incident/fault data.
  • Where required, enter incident/fault data into the data collection system.
  • Provide assistance to local repair and hot-rig facilities.
  • Generate reports as required by the Project.

Key tasks and accountabilities

  • To ensure that any product safety requirements are not compromised by work carried out and that all local safety procedures are adhered to.
  • Adhere to relevant Company and Local Health and Safety procedures and maintain vigilance within the workplace to ensure that the working environment remains safe at all times.
  • Be flexible so not to compromise the customers training diary.
  • Take responsibility of all non-naval personnel when entering simulation building/hall, so that their safety is not compromised and the onsite health and safety brief is given.
  • Generate weekly status reports of site availability, faults, stores, maintenance and other important site issues.

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Significant experience of working in the user community on equipment of similar technology.
  • Highly experienced in the equipment to be supported.
  • Strong technical background.

Education & Qualifications

  • Must have technical certificates at National level or above or recognised military tradesman’s certificates and or time served in HM Forces with experience in either a Production or Customer Support role preferably in a military environment.
