Construction Manager

Morosn Talent are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to work on the behalf of our large aerospace client based in Southampton. This is an ongoing contract role and will be site based.

You will report to and work closely with the Site Projects/ Programme Manager and liaise pro actively with the other internal departments, externals suppliers and contractors to ensure that programme is achieved, and Construction Projects delivered successfully.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Attend Contractor inductions to ensure compliance.
  • Daily checks on works to ensure they comply with RAMS submitted.
  • Site project audits.
  • Monitor and issue yellow/red card process on non-compliant behaviour.
  • Reporting any urgent maintenance issues or hazards around site to on site Facilities provider or SHE team.
  • Ensure that life safety systems are not compromised by works.
  • Contribute to weekly reporting on compliance, construction clashes and week ahead planning.
  • Keep security informed on works and trades expected ahead of time.
  • Liaison with security on clearance levels and ensure contractors are compliant.
  • Booking visitor access and escorting as required.
  • Ensure works do not compromise security systems.
  • Oversee project deliveries.
  • Deputise Project Manager/ Programme Manager as required.
  • Assist team in continuous improvement activates and process.
  • Be responsible for the control, supervision and safety of the workforce and subcontractors from commencement of works through to the completion.
  • Be responsible for managing the construction works of new build projects and refurbishment projects on site including representation at project meetings when needed.
  • Ensure that targets and expectations are met regarding health and safety, delivery to build programme - including quality and cost.
  • Ensuring compliance on site at all times to the Company health and safety standards, HASAWA and building regulations.
  • Undertaking company directed inspections at the correct timings and rectifying any defects so as not to incur additional cost, time delays to the programme, or reduction in the final quality.
  • Monitoring and controlling volume of work on site, and approving payment to contractors and trades where appropriate.
  • Initiating and attending inspections with PM’s/ Key Stakeholders/ SHE representatives and external consultants, taking lead on corrective action of findings.
  • To always deliver a high standard of site presentation.
  • Motivate and support site staff and contractors, providing toolbox talks – capable of coaching as required to improve performance.
  • Carrying out Tours and give a good demonstration of the works, answering any questions, and rectifying any issues before Completion of works.
  • Ensure that site records are maintained, including but not limited to delivery notes, site induction records, Yellow/red card reports and waste transfer notes for SHE team.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Significant previous experience in a similar role
  • Valid CSCS card at site manager level or (equivalent)
  • Previous experience of effectively managing teams
  • Current knowledge of HASAWA building regulations – including quality standards
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients.
  • Excellent communicator at all levels 
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask whilst working to deadlines.
  • Valid first aid certificate
  • Full UK driving licence
  • HNC level 4 or higher in Construction Management (desirable)
  • Knowledge of electrical/mechanical trades (desirable)
  • Valid IPAF certificate (desirable)
  • Familiarity with ITAR controls or high secure/mod sites (desirable)
