Strategy Project Manager

Morson is delighted to be working in partnership with a market leading defence organisation to recruit a ‘Strategy’ focused Project Manager for an initial 18 month contract. There is a rate of £45.65 PAYE or £59.35 Umbrella Per hour on offer for the successful candidate.  The role would involve a hybrid working arrangement with 2-3 days a week on site in Warton and 1-2 days a week working from home. 

Job Description:

The role will support the Support and Services Strategy Lead in developing:
1. A 5, 10 and 15 year long term business strategy for Support & Services.
2. Developing with the lines of business, complementary enabling Product and Service strategies
3. Developing an associated Investment Strategy
4. Supporting the leadership of Customer engagement at a strategy and policy level.

The role is key to strategically developing and growing my clients personnel support business.

Support and Services are made up of the following capabilities delivered to my clients Customers:
- Maintenance and Continuing Airworthiness
- Through Life Engineering
- Supply Chain, Spares and Repairs
- Service & Performance Management
- Training Services
- Mission Systems Services

The successful candidate will be required to perform tasks suitable to the internal level of this role. The role will contain, but will not be limited to, the following:

- Supporting the Support & Services Strategy Lead in delivering a comprehensive strategy.
- Support the facilitation of Strategy Development workshops and capture of key outputs for onward circulation and development.

- With the Support & Services Strategy Lead, work with discipline Leads and finance community to develop investment cases and integrate them into the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) cycles
for my client, Including:
— Identifying required enablers
—Undertaking Cost Benefit Analysis
—Securing funding
- Support integration of enabling activities into the integrated functional plan to ensure successful delivery of Strategy development millstones, responding to queries and requests.
- Ensuring that all key project documents are kept up to date with the latest information.

Undertake Market Analysis for the Support and Services portfolio to inform the Support and Services Strategy, Including conducting:
—Market Trends analysis (Incl. Addressable Market)
—Market Positioning
—Competitor analysis
—Disruptor analysis
-Own the financial performance of the Strategy & Future Requirements team, Updating Spend for Labour and Bought out ETCs

Essential / Desirable skills
-Ability to adopt a strategic Mindset, Thinking outside of day to day tactical delivery opportunities with longer term view
-Able to plan and execute work packages.
-Able to engage and communicate effectively with a diverse stakeholder group, including at senior level.
-Deploy a high level of stakeholder management skills in co-ordinating a diverse group of stakeholders.
-Ability to support LoBs, function and SDU where necessary in the further development of their investment needs consequent to the evolving Support & Services enterprise strategy.
-Be an advocate for the developing an enterprise strategy, helping stakeholders to understand how it relates to them and implications for their own strategies.
