About the Opportunity 

We are recruiting an HSEQ Coordinator to join our Engineering and Technical Services team to support our key clients with their nuclear fleet in the UK. 

This is a key role within our Project Management Resource team, which is spread across our UK network at all UK sites and stations.  In this role, you will report to the Operations Manager but be accountable for project delivery directly to the client.

This role will develop your ability to provide positive leadership on HSE matters within the Site Project Teams and promote adopting best practices. To promote an enthusiastic HSEQ culture that delivers positive commitment to and engages all employees in continuous improvement in HSEQ performance.

To monitor and report on the effectiveness of the Health & Safety Management system and progress against HSEQ performance standards. To make recommendations for improvement as appropriate.

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Support the local Site Management Team in implementing the local plan.
  • Developing and implementing Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures and arrangements.
  • To ensure that any statutory and legislative HSEQ requirements are implemented in their respective Site Team and report any non-compliances to the Construction Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) by assisting in the development of pre-construction information and construction phase health and safety plans and auditing compliance to support the key duty holders’ positions.
  • Assist in the management process of contractors, e.g., having input into the selection of contractors, the review of contractor method statements and risk assessments, and the monitoring of contractors when they commence work on site.
  • Provide advice and guidance on all HSEQ matters.
  • Develop project-specific inductions and present the material as and when required.
  • Complete a monthly report on HSEQ performance identifying good practices and any deteriorating trends for the construction manager.
  • Ensure all accidents are entered into the corrective action process and assist in recording, reporting, investigating, and producing any relevant lessons-learned material associated with them.
  • Monitoring and coaching all project resources to ensure consistent use of the Health & Safety policies and procedures across 
    all projects.
  • Provide support for nominated company representatives in their dealings with regulatory agencies and interface as required.
  • Conduct HSEQ walks, record findings, and report to the Construction Manager the outcome of these reviews. Work with the Station Industrial Safety Engineer, Quality Engineer, and Environmental Safety Engineer to coordinate the Project’s scope of work, share best practices, and implement any HSEQ initiatives that the station is undertaking.
  • Current qualification/knowledge of the CDM Regulations.
  • Previous experience working as part of a Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality team in a project context would be advantageous.
