About Sizewell C

Following the success of Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C has received planning approval and government financial backing. Construction is now underway, with the project seeking private investment. Once completed, it will provide secure electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, supporting the UK’s Net Zero 2050 targets.

Role Overview

As a Telecoms Construction Manager, you will oversee various aspects of the telecoms scope on site, including private radio, public mobile networks, and fibre infrastructure across the entire development. This is a vital role in ensuring effective telecoms delivery, supporting the wider construction of the nuclear power station.

You will work closely with key stakeholders, including Vodafone, BT, and private radio contractors, ensuring infrastructure meets the projects demands. The role includes elements of procurement, project delivery, quality assurance, and operational management, making it a dynamic and varied position.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Oversight: Lead the resolution of technical issues on-site, ensuring high-quality telecoms installation.

Site Presence: A minimum of three days per week on-site at Sizewell C, with flexibility for increased presence as required.

Quality Assurance: Conduct technical quality checks throughout construction and handover phases, acting as an NEC Supervisor.

Project Delivery: Ensure key milestones are met within budget, leading on specific elements of the telecoms scope.

Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with contractors, internal teams, and other key stakeholders within the project.

Coordination: Work closely with Utilities Construction, Design, Temporary Works, and Consents Managers to ensure compliance with regulations.

Risk & Change Management: Proactively identify risks and opportunities, managing change control processes efficiently.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

Proven experience managing telecoms projects (fibre, private radio, public mobile networks) on large-scale infrastructure projects.

Strong knowledge of telecoms construction standards and quality control.

Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Competence in risk management and problem-solving.

Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.

Desirable:

Experience working on nuclear or high-compliance environments.

Advanced negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

Understanding of environmental management and sustainability practices.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related field.

Minimum 10 years experience in telecoms project management, with some experience on major infrastructure projects.

Experience in managing large, multidisciplinary teams.

Desirable:

Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field.

Professional project management certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).

Experience in major programme or project delivery.
