Configuration Engineer

Job Purpose / Overview

As a leader in program activities, your role will be instrumental in establishing and managing configuration baselines, navigating configuration changes, and delivering regular status reports crucial to Configuration Management (CM) activities.

Principal Accountabilities

Execute the CM Plan with precision, ensuring tailored application across program-specific scopes.
Develop and implement robust CM arrangements, including standards, procedures, and tools, to ensure meticulous configuration control.
Engage stakeholders to ensure the establishment of configuration baselines, effective management of configuration changes, and maintenance of configuration records.
Administer the change control procedure meticulously, facilitating swift decision-making and expediting changes to closure.
Generate Configuration Status Reports to inform management decisions, offering comprehensive insights into current configurations and audit activities.
Provide CM training to equip program participants with the necessary skills and understanding of CM procedures.
Collaborate across functions to develop and adopt a cohesive CM approach across all project facets.
Contribute to Engineering Data Management activities, specifying CM requirements for data and information management systems.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience

Knowledge & Skills

Proficiency in Configuration Management Standards, including ISO 10007, EIA 649, and related guidance.
Ability to define CM procedures aligned with project requirements.
Strong coordination skills in handling cross-cutting technical topics.
Capacity to interpret and implement engineering procedures effectively.
Possession of general professional qualities such as accuracy, tenacity, and teamwork-oriented attitude.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, proactively address issues, and escalate when necessary.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience in large-scale, multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
Desirable

Familiarity with other CM standards, such as Def Stan 05-57.
Understanding of engineering principles in large-scale infrastructure projects.
Qualifications & Experience

Demonstrable experience in performing CM on large, complex programs, preferably within major infrastructure projects.
CM certification (CM2) and/or equivalent industry experience preferred.
Engineering degree or equivalent industry experience.
Prior involvement in large-scale, multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
Experience working on similar projects, such as the HPC, would be advantageous.
