Close call
Close Call App
Our close call app simplifies and streamlines the reporting of hazards and risks into a simple app, which our workers can use on the go to report incidents straight to our HSQE team.
Our app receives around 2,000 close calls per year demonstrating continued buy-in across our operations, with each close call enabling us to deliver proactive actions.
- Reporting a Close Call is a positive act
- The Close Call system operates in a blame-free environment
- It is better to have a Close Call than a lesson learnt!

Environment and sustainability
Work Safe, Home Safe
Our behavioural safety initiative, Work Safe Home Safe, was developed to enable our entire workforce to understand the need for personal cultural change and how to embed safe working in the workplace.
Ingraining safety behaviours into our day-to-day working whilst continuing to develop company policies and processes provides a balanced approach that may be tailored to the specifics of each workplace and client.
Safety Conversation Vehicles
Almost three-quarters of our emissions are derived from our fleet and we continue to monitor the automotive market as manufacturers work to develop new technology.
Our Canning Town branch fleet is fully electric and our business has adopted Shell’s fuel card scheme, Destination: Carbon Neutral.
We also ensured our entire fleet became ULEZ (Ultra Low Emissions Zone) compliant with an ongoing vehicle renewal programme.
Suicide Prevention Patrollers
In 2023 our Suicide Prevention Patrollers completed their 100th life-saving intervention.
What started as a trial project with Network Rail in October 2018 has seen our patrollers deliver 64 interventions on the East Coast route, 23 on the East Midlands route and 13 on the North & East route, with a further 1,778 concerns raised. Classed as ‘associated faults’, these
cover factors such as damaged fencing and trespassing.
Together, this resulted in multiple nominations at the Rail Staff Awards 2022, with
finalists in the Samaritans Lifesaver and Safety Person categories.

Morson & ANDYSMANCLUB team up with suicide prevention playing cards
Morson Group partnered with men’s suicide prevention charity ANDYSMANCLUB to help break the stigma surrounding men’s mental health with the launch of our custom playing cards.
The custom playing card decks were developed in partnership with the charity to encourage open and honest conversations and as the centrepiece of the first #ItsOKToTalk week. Suicide is the biggest cause of death in men under the age of 45. The charity offers free-to-attend peer-to-peer support groups across the UK and online, aiming to end the stigma and help men through the power of conversation. They have reached over 100 million people including Hollywood stars, professional sports people and more.
Over 350 decks have been distributed to businesses across the UK who are supporting the campaign, with 300 decks given to our contractor community, creating a gateway to an open conversation.
