SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:

This is a senior position in the company that would suit an ambitious Financial Controller looking to gain more experience in developing a strong and efficient finance function before moving into a Finance Director role.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The key purpose of the job will be to manage to the day-to-day operations of the finance team with specific regard to ensuring the finance function is fit for purpose in a large and complex business. Initial key priorities will include reviewing processes and controls to implement a robust control framework

The Financial Controller will work closely with the Commercial Manager to review processes both within finance and across the rest of the company to find efficiencies and maximise income generating opportunities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Day to day management of the finance team circa 11 people including mentoring and coaching to enhance skills across the team
• Manage the month end close process to ensure efficient and correct reporting
• Lead the year-end process ensuring timely production of statutory accounts and reporting into Group parent
• Management of cash and working capital.
• Work closely with the Finance Director and FP&A Manager to develop management information systems to facilitate understanding of key commercial and financial drivers across the business
• Responsible for the Internal Control Environment and control frameworks
• Be a key contributor to continuous improvement and cost reduction opportunities across the company
• Partner closely with non-Finance areas of the business to provide consistent information and maximise operations
• Deputise for the Finance Director assisting with tasks as they occur

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification is essential (fully qualified)

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years post qualification experience in a senior finance role.
• Previous experience of managing a finance team is essential
• Previous experience working in a fast-moving corporate environment is essential
• Previous experience working with ERP system

Knowledge and Skills:

• Strong technical accounting knowledge
• The ability to work effectively under pressure, managing conflicting priorities and to meet challenging reporting deadlines
• Strong leadership skills to motivate and inspire the finance team
• Good communication skills
• A progressive team mentality
• Strong Microsoft Office skills including Advanced Excel.
