Aircraft Service Engineer

Morson are currently seeking a Service Engineer for our large Aerospace client, this role will be working in Montijo, Portugal. This is a contracting position offering a competitive hourly rate.

JOB PURPOSE

  • To provide technical advice LMW customers using extant documentation and where required develop solutions beyond that available in published documentation to allow aircraft to return to service safely
  • To assist with cost of ownership and availability improvement initiatives for the benefit of  the client and its customer
  • To assist the clients departments, such as the CSM, material and warranty teams, with technical advice and knowledge to improve the company’s responsive to customer issues

KEY JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Technical Advice

  • Provide faster and better informed technical solutions and advice to customers, enabling customers to maximise the availability and serviceability of their aircraft safely
  • Discharge day to day operational technical support through a task management process, ensure the originator provides all the required information and receives a response within the agreed timescales
  • Contribute to the development of the aircraft in service by the direct feedback of in service technical issues
  • Provide advice on fault diagnosis
  • Provide on-site customer location, technical/design support beyond the technical capability / authority of the Field Service Representatives
  • Preserve airworthiness of in service aircraft by close co-operation and coordination between Operators, Service Engineering and CPE’s offices
  • Reduce the workload on core Engineering staff by resolving issues within CS&S UK

2. Cost of Ownership Reduction

  • Provide technical advice to the clients colleagues to minimise material and minimise maintenance effort
  • Develop damage and repair limits
  • Assist in maintenance schedule development
  • Provide Engineering analysis of technical data feedback from customer operations
  • Assist the Platform leads to gain operational and cost of ownership support benefits

3. Aircraft Surveys

• Conduct aircraft surveys when requested

4. Assistance to Other Departments

  • Provide assistance to the Warranty manager and CSM’s with the provision of advice on in-service issues
  • Support the material teams in understanding viable alternatives
  • Support the platform User Groups, customer and supplier reviews, when requested
  • Co-ordinate other business functions within PSE and Engineering to deliver the customer requirements

5. Reporting

  • Report on issues, activities and trends and support pan variant impact assessments
  • Provide performance reports as required
  • Provide focal point for incident reporting

6. Process Development

  • Assist with the development and continuous improvement of departmental

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Experienced Aerospace Engineer with a proven track record of responsibilities in either the Maintenance or Design and Development fields
  • HNC/HND or Degree in related Engineering subject with significant experience of aerospace design and / or maintenance in technically responsible roles
  • Good customer facing skills
  • Good communicator/presenter
  • Good understanding of aircraft documentation and airworthiness legislation
  • Understanding of COS, relevant DPRs and the design process
  • Interpersonal and team skills (ability to communicate and interact at all levels of the business both within and outside the function)
  • Sound analytical skills and logic
  • Good organisational skills
  • Confidently handle challenging conversations. Listen, understand and respect different views and ways of working. Stand ground when needed.
  • Flexibility to deal with changing priorities
  • Self-motivated and proactive in driving tasks through taking a thorough and methodical approach
  • IT literate with all basic desktop applications and company standard software;
  • Integrity and professional approach
