Draughtsperson 2D&3D (Structural Steel)

Anderselite is recruiting on behalf of a valued client for an exciting opportunity within a small fabrications office team. This team specializes in the design, manufacture, and installation of structural steelwork, serving the wastewater, energy, and transport sectors.

Role Overview:
You will assist the office team by producing general arrangement and detailed fabrication drawings, undertaking site surveys, and creating provisional drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs). These tasks will support the estimating team in delivering accurate and timely client quotations.

Key Responsibilities:

Drawing:
- Liaise with customers on technical queries to ensure drawings meet specifications and deadlines.
- Attend project meetings with designers and customers in person or online.
- Submit technical queries to customers.
- Produce accurate general arrangement (GA) drawings for client approval.
- Create detailed fabrication drawings, including BSEN 1090 welding details and material specifications.
- Conduct site surveys above and below ground level.
- Develop modular principle-based drawings when feasible.
- Generate design drawings and BOMs as needed.
- Collaborate with internal or external design teams.
- Compile works packs for operational teams.
- Ensure drawings adhere to relevant specifications, such as Thames Water standards.

Site Visits:
- Perform site surveys to discuss customer requirements and gather measurements using laser equipment and levels.

Project Management:
- Attend design/client meetings to assist with product design development.
- Support the Drawing Office Manager and office team with project control from start to finish, including quality handover documentation.

Procurement:
- Prepare BOMs and request quotes from approved suppliers.
- Select suppliers, place purchase orders, and maintain correspondence records.

Customer Service:
- Maintain high levels of customer service and communication.
- Address customer complaints according to the defined process.

System and Process:
- Save all documents in the designated project folder structure.
- Issue Declaration of Performance and UCKA Certificates for projects.
- Assist with the annual stock check.

HSEQ:
- Complete tasks in line with risk assessments, reporting any non-compliance.
- Report accidents and submit positive interventions appropriately.
- Ensure correct PPE is used and maintain excellent housekeeping standards.
- Work in line with HSEQ policies and procedures.

Key Measures and Targets:
- Response times to customer drawing inquiries.
- Customer satisfaction and feedback.
- Accuracy and completeness of drawing information.

Person Specification:

Essential:
- Knowledge of structural steelwork.
- Experience in medium/heavy engineering industries.
- Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD, adhering to BSEN standards.
- Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Excellent attention to detail and written communication skills.

Desirable:
- Experience in the water industry or construction sites.
- Confined space training.
- Familiarity with 3D software such as Advanced Steel (or willingness to learn).
