Position Title: Senior Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Biased)
Location: ONS Titchfield, Segensworth Road, Fareham, Hants, PO15 5RR
Salary: £33,000 per annum + On-Call Allowance (£147.90)
Total Compensation: Circa £35,000 per annum (including On-Call Allowance)
Working Hours: Permanent, 40 hours per week
- Variable start times: 07:00 – 15:30 and 09:30 – 18:00
On-Call Rota: 1 in 3 (On-Call Allowance provided)

Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Biased) to join our team at the ONS Titchfield site in Fareham, Hampshire. The ideal candidate will have an electrical background with significant experience in maintenance, including electrical systems and plumbing knowledge. The role involves a wide range of tasks, including the management of electrical and general building maintenance work within a government office building.
You will be part of an on-call rota and responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of electrical and building systems, adhering to compliance and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform electrical maintenance and repairs across the facility, including routine inspections, troubleshooting, and fault finding.
- Undertake general building maintenance work, including plumbing tasks as required.
- Manage emergency maintenance tasks and respond quickly and efficiently during on-call hours (1 in 3).
- Work in line with health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with contractors and subcontractors, ensuring quality and timely completion of works.
- Ensure all maintenance work is carried out to the highest quality standards and in line with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with ONS security clearance, which includes DBS and CTC checks.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- 18th Edition Electrical Qualification (essential).
- City and Guilds or equivalent plumbing qualification (desirable).
- Proven experience in electrical maintenance, ideally within large office or commercial environments.
- Previous experience working with Facilities Management (FM) systems or knowledge of VINCI FM systems (preferred).
- A minimum of 3 years UK residency is required (ONS requirement).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, effectively managing time and resources.
Vetting and Security Requirements:
- Basic DBS check on recruitment.
- CTC (Counter Terrorism Check) will be required once in the role (ONS requirement).
- Drug and Alcohol test to be undertaken within the first month of placement (critical role requirement).
Desired Skills:
- VINCI FM system knowledge or experience (preferred).
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, able to liaise with team members and clients effectively.
- A proactive approach to health and safety and compliance with government and company regulations.
