Our client is currently looking for an Associate Structural Engineer to join their Leeds office, focusing on expanding their regional structural engineering capabilities.
The ideal candidate will be a Chartered Civil/Structural Engineer with experience in managing projects from feasibility to completion. They should have client-facing and business development skills, or a desire to develop them.
Responsibilities include overseeing technical direction, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and leading design solutions. The role requires a strong presence in the Yorkshire/North-East region and experience in bidding and tendering. This position offers opportunities for leadership and career progression, including potential for future management roles.
Key Experience:
- Degree-qualified and Chartered (CEng) Civil/Structural Engineer with industry recognition.
- Extensive experience in major structural engineering projects, including projects with a low carbon focus.
- Expertise in designing steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and timber structures from concept to completion, including foundation design and structural analysis.
- Proficient in design codes, standards, and 2D/3D design software for project application.
- Knowledgeable in construction implementation with site supervision experience.
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality design projects on time and within budget.
- Strong commercial understanding of the consultancy business.
- A drive for innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable design solutions.
- Strong leadership skills, with a focus on developing and motivating teams.
- Experience in building client relationships and securing new work.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee technical delivery of structural engineering designs, ensuring all necessary technical governance.
- Lead and support business development, including bidding and identifying new opportunities.
- Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective clients.
- Manage and develop the structural engineering team.
- Interface with clients and stakeholders, coordinating with other disciplines.
- Take financial responsibility for structural fees on projects under leadership.
