An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Operations Manager to join a forward-thinking organization focused on optimizing quarry and asphalt plant operations. This is a fantastic opportunity to manage a dynamic team, ensure the safe and efficient running of operations, and drive continuous improvement. The role offers flexibility in location, with easy access to the site from Shrewsbury, Telford, Chester, and surrounding areas.

The Role
As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the quarry and asphalt plant. You will lead a highly skilled team, ensure safety and compliance, and optimize plant performance. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and developing a motivated and skilled team to ensure business continuity and reduce operational risk.
- Leading change initiatives and continuous improvement efforts to drive efficiency and performance.
- Overseeing budget control and cost management for the quarry and asphalt operations.
- Ensuring compliance with safety standards, environmental policies, and legislative requirements.
- Implementing standard operating procedures and training staff on risk assessments and safety systems.
- Managing the safe operation of plant equipment, including preventative maintenance and statutory inspections.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in quarrying, crushing plant, and asphalt plant operations.
- Strong knowledge of risk assessments, safety systems, and environmental policies.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team.
- Experience with budget control and cost management in a plant or quarry environment.
- Proficiency with IT systems, including SAP and Microsoft Office.
- IOSH Managing Safely certification (essential), NVQ Level 4/5 in Management of Safety in Quarries (preferred).
- Membership of the Institute of Quarrying (desirable).
