Location: Alvaston, Derby
Employment Type: Temporary (12-15 Month Assignment)
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 17:00

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our Facilities Division on a 12–15-month maternity cover assignment. The role requires a commercially astute individual to oversee contracts, supplier agreements, and financial administration, ensuring smooth operations and alignment with the organisation’s goals.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Contract Management:
    • Manage contracts and agreements with suppliers and sub-contractors.
    • Administer and monitor commercial aspects of contracts.
    • Prepare orders and instructions for contractors or suppliers.
    • Evaluate and manage potential claims from contractors and suppliers.
  • Budget Oversight:
    • Monitor and report on monthly spending against package budgets.
    • Ensure financial alignment with project goals and organisational objectives.
  • Additional Works Processes:
    • Manage processes to identify and capture items exceeding the contract’s limit of liability.
  • Operational Support:
    • Provide guidance to the operations team regarding contractual requirements and implications of non-performance.
    • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team on contractual negotiations.
    • Maintain and enforce policies, procedures, and governance to manage commercial risks.
  • Procurement and Supplier Management:
    • Work closely with the procurement team to enhance supplier relationships.
    • Support onboarding of new suppliers to meet operational and strategic needs.
  • Strategic Contributions:
    • Provide insights to drive profitable growth and support the delivery of the organisation’s long-term goals.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience in Quantity Surveying within the facilities or related sector.
  • Strong knowledge of contract administration and commercial management.
  • Ability to evaluate claims and manage supplier agreements effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to liaise with teams, suppliers, and leadership.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting and budget management.
  • Proficiency in maintaining governance policies to manage commercial risk.
  • A valid DBS check (required).
