Electrical Engineer - Senior / Principal

Principal Electrical & ICA Engineer – Bristol or Exeter (Hybrid Working)

Are you an experienced Electrical & ICA Engineer looking for a new challenge? We are seeking a Principal Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team in either Bristol or Exeter, with the flexibility of hybrid working. This role is integral in providing top-quality Engineering Design services, ensuring project risks are minimized, and profits are maximized across turnkey and engineering services contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop cost-effective design layouts that meet specification requirements and facilitate efficient construction and commissioning, considering full project costs including materials, labor, and impact on other disciplines.
Apply standard practices to maintain competitiveness.
Provide estimates and technical feedback to the Proposals department.
Adhere to and contribute to the development of department procedures and processes, ensuring continuous improvement.
Coordinate designs with other disciplines, both internal and external, to streamline contract design processes.
Maintain accurate files and records for the duration of each contract.
Cultivate customer satisfaction by recognizing the importance of internal and external customers.
Support the department’s health, safety, and environmental standards.
Engage in personal development planning and help supervise and develop team members.
Support environmental and sustainability goals by minimizing waste in departmental activities.
Candidate Profile

Essential Requirements:

Extensive experience in delivering technical solutions for complex water industry engineering projects.
Proficiency with motor control centers, including motor protection, variable speed drives, and harmonic mitigation.
Strong background in selecting and specifying instrumentation, industrial communications, PLCs, and SCADA systems.
Solid understanding of water and sewage treatment processes.
Proven experience managing design teams on water and sewage treatment plant projects.
Membership in a relevant professional institution and/or chartered status.
Relevant degree in Engineering.
Ability to optimize designs and create efficient plant layouts.
Broad knowledge across various aspects of water treatment, such as mechanical, process, and electrical engineering, as well as project management.
Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple data streams.
Effective communicator, capable of presenting technical proposals with clarity and confidence.
Proficient in computer applications relevant to the role.
Valid driver’s license.
