Sustainability Procurement Manager

Capenhurst, Cheshire, England

Help us to make a world of difference

Urenco is a global leader in the production of low carbon energy. We work at the cutting edge of the transition to a sustainable, net zero world.

We’re looking for a Sustainable Procurement Manager. Based at our either our Capenhurst or Paddington locations, you’ll be accountable for the development and delivery of sustainable procurement strategies in collaboration with the Procurement Category Management Team that support the delivery of Urenco’s sustainability targets.

You will also be responsible for driving the sustainability activities of the Urenco supply base to support Urenco in achieving their ESG goals, e.g. contribution to selected UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) and accelerating supplier activity to align and support Urenco achieving their Scope 3 decarbonisation targets of 30% reduction by 2030 and a longer term commitment to achieve net zero.

At Urenco we’re committed to giving you opportunities to be your best. If you feel you meet some, but not all of what were looking for, please still apply. We believe in embracing the passion and potential of our people, and to achieve this we offer market leading training and development experiences. Along with the opportunity to be mentored and coached by some of the smartest minds in the industry.

What you’ll do:

  • Establish, appoint and lead the Sustainable Procurement Team.
  • Collaborate with Category Management and Project delivery teams to develop a plan to achieve a 30% reduction in scope 3 emissions by 2030 with further longer term commitment to achieve net zero.
  • Support their direct reports and the Procurement Category Management Team to drive Urenco sustainability objectives delivery into the supply base ensuring they are targeted, skilled, equipped and motivated to drive down supplier Scope 3 emissions in line with the agreed targets.
  • Educate the Urenco team and target suppliers with levers to drive down emissions and support suppliers in implementation of improvement measures while working in close collaboration with Category Management who own the overall supplier relationship
  • Drive consistency in supplier sustainability reporting e.g. promoting and managing supplier ESG deliverables with a primary focus on the ‘E’ such as Scope 1, 2 & 3 decarbonisation data and a broader focus on the ‘S&G’ such as human rights and diversity indicators being reported in Ecovadis.
  • Liaise and support the Procurement Governance Team, Procurement Data Analytics Team, Group Finance and Sustainability Teams to provide robust supplier data for internal and external sustainable Procurement reporting. e.g. shift from Scope 3 EEIO Method to Hybrid Method. reporting.
  • Future proof the Urenco strategy by seeking out global best practice, developing and understanding of future regulatory and legislative changes which will impact Urenco supplier management. Liaise with Government Affairs as necessary
  • Develop strategic sustainability supply chain audit requirements to be managed and delivered by the Sustainable Procurement Specialist:
    • Self-audits of Sustainability objectives Vs Roadmap
    • Internal Group audit as required
    • External audit – ISO, CDP, CSRD, CSDDD, SBTi (etc.)

What do you need to thrive in this role?

  • Experience of delivering sustainable procurement solutions across multi-geographical locations (ideally across UK, Europe, US)
  • Experience of identifying sustainability (ESG) supplier risk, developing risk mitigation actions and tracking progress against agreed mitigation actions
  • Experience in the delivery of reports and presentations to peers and senior management.
  • Experience delivering training and managing multiple stakeholders to peers and senior management.
  • Coaching, mentoring and motivating cross functional teams
  • Worked in a regulated environment with sustainability targets across ESG.

  • A diverse range of family friendly policies.
  • A generous bonus scheme.
  • A defined contribution pension scheme with up to 16% employer’s contribution.
