We’re looking for a Uranium Accountant. Based at our Capenhurst site location you’ll verify and enter data in a timely and accurate manner into Enrichment Operations, Chemical Process Operations and Decommissioning and Waste, material accounts and safeguards systems as required both commercially and by the regulators of strategic materials, namely the International Atomic Energy Agency and ONR-Safeguards.

What you’ll do:
• Advise on the treatment of, verify and enter data into the Enrichment Operations, Chemical Process Operations and Decommissioning and Waste Uranium Accounts and Safeguards systems as required by the regulators of Strategic materials, namely International Atomic Energy Agency and ONR- Safeguards.
• Deputise for the Uranium Accountancy Manager, in the event of absence, during the regular (approximately monthly), short notice audits made by the International Atomic Energy Agency and ONR (Safeguards), including leading the “limited frequency unannounced access” inspections of classified technology in the cascade halls.
• Assist in the planning and organising of the annual “physical inventory taking” on the Enrichment Operations, Chemical Process Operations and Decommissioning and Waste sites, including all operational plants and storage areas including MOD audits.
• Develop new and existing procedures and prepares instructions for their implementation for Enrichment Operations, Chemical Process Operations and Decommissioning and Waste
• Coordinate Contract staff brought to site to help escort the International Atomic Energy Agency and ONR inspectors in the unclassified areas of the site.
What do you need to thrive in this role?
• Qualification to HNC or equivalent in a mathematical related discipline and/or accountancy principles.
• A good understanding of plant operations and Safeguards related Company and Group-wide processes and organisational roles, typically with several years of expertise.
• Highly numerate and obtains a minimum pass mark of 90% on the Logistics Services Department numeracy test.
• Highly proficient in the use of SAP, Excel, and other relevant software.
• Good understanding of plant operations and accountancy principles with
a broader understanding of Company and Group-wide processes and organisational roles, typically gained through several years of experience.
• Ability to recognise and resolve problems in own area of work and to make a positive contribution to their resolution.
• Good understanding of International Safeguards regulations.
• An understanding of the use and planning cycle for UF6 cylinders both within URENCO and externally with Customers, Fabricators and Convertors.
• Good interpersonal skills necessary to work in a team environment and to provide a quality customer service.
• Exceptional degree of attention to detail such that there is consistently a very high level of accuracy in data verification and input, particularly regarding the audited Uranium Accounts and Safeguards returns, which have an international significance.
• Excellent planning skills to ensure that all regulatory reports are submit- ted on time.
• Good oral, written and presentation skills in order to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation and with day-to-day external contacts.
• Fully familiar with Logistics Services Department operations and a broad understanding of the Capenhurst site functions both locally and in the wider Company context.
