Hours of work: 9 day working fortnight – Week 1 Monday to Friday / Week 2 Monday to Thursday

The successful Mechanical Pipe Fitter will perform with guidance all planned and unplanned mechanical engineering activities relating to the running of an efficient contract and supporting the client sites. To support the Maintenance Works Supervisor by performing planned and unplanned mechanical / maintenance activities in accordance with site procedures.
Ideally, we would like candidates to have experience of working with steam and pressure systems/pipework but this is not essential as full training can be given.

Duties:
• Ensure all Planned Preventative and Reactive Maintenance is completed to schedule ensuring that appropriate documentation is completed and submitted in a timely fashion
• Perform with guidance rectification of defects, ensuring all safety and performance standards are met in accordance with the contract
• Carry out routine maintenance work associated with all pressure and mechanical systems
• Hold current city and guilds or equivalent qualifications/experience
• Assist specialist contractors and ensure all certifications / documentation is completed in accordance with the client and company requirements
• Liaise with and respond to the Helpdesk ensuring urgent maintenance tasks are responded to within appropriate timescales

Candidate Profile:
Our ideal candidate will have/be able to:
• A City and Guilds or equivalent in the relevant job specific discipline
• Experience and knowledge in the following disciplines within industrial pipe fitting ½_ to 24” OD pipe, including pipe threading, pipe bending, copper jointing, press fit and flange work
• Sound knowledge and understanding of steam generation and condensate recovery systems. Knowledge of steam boilers and their associated equipment would be advantageous. Knowledge of PSSR 2000 / Confined Space and Permit to work systems
• Experience of mechanical planned & breakdown maintenance, fault finding & diagnosis on plant and equipment
• Understanding of legislative compliance
• Knowledge and understanding of the elements required for a `Safe System of Work
• Good all-round knowledge of facilities management and building services engineering
• The ability to establish, implement and monitor high standards of excellence in areas of quality, safety and operational performance
• Able to demonstrate a successful track record in the field of assurance / health and safety
• Be resilient under pressure and be able to converse confidently with staff, suppliers and customers at all levels
• Willingness to train, update and improve themselves for the benefit of the contract
• Ability to think and react to immediate problems and issues without losing sight of or compromising long term goals
• High standard of personal integrity and professionalism with the adaptability to change
• Ability to lead and act with authority when required
• Proactive approach to work duties

Other Factors:
• Must be able to obtain & maintain security clearance, currently at DV level.
• Medically & psychologically fit for working at heights, confined space work, wearing various types of PPE including respirators and face masks
