My client is a leading provider of innovative solutions within the rail industry, specializing in infrastructure, rolling stock, signalling, etc. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of service and quality, and we are currently looking for a Senior Procurement Manager to join our dynamic team to lead procurement strategies and ensure seamless supply chain operations.
Job Summary:
The Senior Procurement Manager will lead and manage the procurement function for the rail division, ensuring effective sourcing, cost management, supplier relationship management, and contract negotiation. This role will be pivotal in driving procurement strategies that align with the company’s goals and the demands of the rail industry.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop, implement, and manage procurement strategies for rail infrastructure, rolling stock, and associated services.
• Lead procurement processes from sourcing through to negotiation, contract award, and supplier management.
• Manage key supplier relationships to ensure reliability, quality, and cost-effectiveness in supply chain operations.
• Oversee the procurement of high-value and complex goods and services for rail projects.
• Conduct market analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and ensure the best value for money.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Operations, and Project Management to understand project requirements and deliver procurement solutions.
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues related to quality, delivery, or service.
• Manage procurement budgets, forecasts, and reporting, ensuring adherence to financial targets.
• Lead contract negotiations, ensuring compliance with legal and industry standards.
• Stay up to date with rail industry regulations, trends, and innovations to proactively address procurement challenges.
• Mentor and manage a small team of procurement professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Requirements:
• Proven experience (minimum of 10 years in procurement within the rail industry or a related sector.
• Strong understanding of the rail sector, including procurement of rail infrastructure, rolling stock, and related services.
• Expertise in strategic sourcing, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
• Experience with high-value, complex procurement contracts.
• Strong financial acumen, with the ability to manage budgets and deliver cost-saving initiatives.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead and inspire teams, with experience in managing or mentoring procurement staff.
• Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and compliance standards.
• A relevant degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
• Relevant certifications, such as CIPS, would be advantageous.
