A fantastic opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career looking for an opportunity in engineering.

No experience or qualifications needed but enthusiasm and an interest in engineering a must! Would suit a college leaver.

Our client, based in Avonmouth, are pioneering new alternative energy technologies for road transport and mobile refrigeration. The business is in a period of growth and with that they now require an Assembly Operative to assist the Project Leaders in the manufacture of solar solutions for refrigeration vehicles.

This opportunity is viewed as a temp to perm position with the posibility of a place on the Marshall Apprenticeship scheme.

Purpose of the position

To assist in the assembly of Titan systems. Installing components onto base panels, cutting holes in component boxes and installing gland nuts and vents, installing component assemblies into prepared component boxes. Production of control circuit cabling and making appropriate connections where required.

Tasks:

• Use hand tools to fit gland nuts, vents and connecting plugs into component boxes

• Use hand tools to cut electrical cables to length and fit electrical terminals using appropriate crimping tools

• To fit and secure components to the base panels using mechanical fastenings

• To assemble base boards into component boxes

• To make electrical connections in connecting plugs and components

• To dispose of any packaging materials responsibly in the designated disposal bins

• To undertake other assembly work as required in the manufacture of the Titan systems
   Capability

Behavioural Competencies:

• To be able to work effectively under instruction

• To be able to determine that his work quality is at an acceptable level

• To be able to attend site punctually and reliably to meet the production schedule requirements

• To be able to read basic component layout drawings and simple wiring diagrams

Technical Competencies:

• The ability to use hand tools, drills, crimping pliers, wire cutters, spanners and sockets.

• To be able to determine when a component has been assembled correctly

• To be use positioning skills to ensure components are fitted and aligned correctly

Experience:

• Evidence of previous practical activity would be an advantage in a workplace or hobby eg, bike maintenance.
