Hourly Rate: £18.01
Location: Cranfield

We are currently recruiting for a Vehicle Technician on behalf of a globally recognised automotive client based in Cranfield.
This is a long-term contract role, with the potential to last several years.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform static and dynamic evaluations of various vehicles to ensure they meet European customer requirements.
• Collaborate with Test/Design Engineers to conduct tests in line with client standards and local operating procedures.
• Assemble/disassemble parts, components, or vehicles for testing activities.
• Maintain the test vehicle fleet, including safety checks, retrofitting, fault-finding, and repairs.
• Set up instrumentation, including data loggers and video cameras.
• Assist with report writing and learning bespoke client systems.
• Prepare, build, and maintain vehicles or components for testing following local procedures and engineering manuals.
• Support both static and dynamic testing, gathering accurate, timely, and quality data.
• Help identify concerns and communicate with Test Engineers.
• Deliver on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the section.
• Use your skills to support other sections as needed.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Ideally, C&G / BTEC Level 3 in mechanical or automotive engineering, with a recognised apprenticeship.
• Strong understanding of vehicle architecture and systems, with fault-finding capabilities.
• Experience in vehicle or component test environments is preferred but not essential.
• Basic knowledge of component measurement techniques (preferred).
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Full UK Manual/Auto Driving Licence.
• Passion for automotive performance and technologies.
• Ability to provide clear, constructive feedback on automotive products.
• Strong practical skills in both mechanical and electrical areas.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently, managing and prioritising workload.
• Willingness to travel internationally to support testing.

Hours & Pay:

• Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week.
• Hourly rate: £18.01.
