Job Title: Crew Commander (Medical Response)
Location: Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria
Contract Details: Contract length: 6 months (Maternity cover)
Business Unit: Submarines
Days on site: Full time, 5 days a week
Rate: £35 per hour PAYE

Purpose of the Role:
To support the Medical Response Support Watch Commander (MRSWC) in all aspects of delivering Submarines’ medical capabilities across the Barrow site. The Medical Response Support Crew Commander (MRSCC) ensures regulatory compliance, supports emergency medical response, and helps maintain site-wide medical preparedness.

Core Responsibilities (Typical Duties):
• Assist the MRSWC in delivering and maintaining medical training for internal ( Fire & Rescue Service) and external (wider site) stakeholders, in line with National Occupational Standards.
• Support drills, exercises, audits, and inspections involving key stakeholders across the site.
• Conduct audits, reviews, and operational assurance checks to maintain national compliance standards.
• Support the MRSWC in researching, developing, and producing reports and recommendations on medical capability and performance.
• Carry out, coordinate, and monitor medical equipment inspections, maintaining accurate compliance records.
• Produce, schedule, and monitor reports, dashboards, and improvement plans to support the medical training programme.
• Act as system administrator/facilitator for the Trauma Resus Learning Portal.
• Maintain effective communication with internal personnel and external agencies for robust stakeholder management
• Support  Fire & Rescue Service operational crews during on-site medical incidents as needed.
• Administer and monitor the Maintenance of Skills Programme, collating training data.

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:
Knowledge:
Understanding of Medical and Emergency Response environments.
Familiarity with First Aid at Work standards.
Awareness of GDPR and data protection in healthcare settings.
Knowledge of First Person on Scene (Emergency Response).

Skills:
Skilled in delivering or coordinating training sessions.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
Ability to manage administrative systems and compliance processes.
Calm under pressure and effective at problem-solving.

Qualifications:
First Aid at Work Trainer (Preferred, but not essential — training can be provided if needed).
Additional medical response certifications advantageous.
