Process Governance and Assurance Systems Engineer

Hybrid working – 3 days per week on site (5 during test periods)
Job Role:
- Manage a cross-functional team to deliver process, governance and assurance activities on behalf of Test & Facilities Capability (T&FC)
- Develop and maintain processes supporting the entire engineering lifecycle (LCM), in accordance with all internal and external requirements
- Ensure appropriate process deployment is undertaken and evidence is retained
- Identify and manage emerging and/or existing threats to compliance against Engineering and Quality standards
- Support the development of new facilities and capabilities
- Develop and manage a risk based audit schedule and ensure outputs are made visible across the programme
- Articulate and deliver strategic objectives and cascade these through the team
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and improve the T&FC Operational Framework and Code of Practice
- Support any third party inspections and recertification activities
- Define and monitor KPIs to measure performance and efficiency of processes
- Maintain cross functional communication channels across the business
- Identify and promote continuous improvement initiatives
- Assess the impact of proposed changes and ensure they are implemented in a controlled manner
- Encourage transparency, standardisation and consistency to influence cultural change
- Continuously review T&FC’s governance structures and arrangements to ensure they deliver appropriate levels of responsibility, accountability, efficiency and effectiveness
- Diverse industry experience (e.g Aerospace, Nuclear, Oil, Pharmaceutical)
- Qualified Auditor (e.g. LRQA)
Key Skills and Experience:
- Must have knowledge and experience of software controlled systems
- Proven experience of managing engineering and quality governance activities within a complex software environment
- Capable of developing, prioritising and driving a detailed programme of work across multiple facilities
- Problem solving skills and demonstrable knowledge of RCA techniques
- Understanding of LCM, Management Plans, Business Management Systems and Operational Frameworks
- Strong stakeholder management and leadership experience
- A good understanding of other related disciplines, projects and teams within Submarines
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 45001, IEC 61508 and Defence Standards
- Demonstrable experience of working in high integrity/complex systems environments
- Experienced user of SharePoint, Teamcenter and Jira
- Analytical approach
- Educated to degree level in a STEM related subject
- Chartered Engineer (or working towards)
