SharePoint Engineer
Barrow (1-2 days a month onsite)
6 months initially
£46.18ph inside IR35 / Umbrella

Role Description

Candidates must be willing to undergo the security clearance checks required for the role.

The role holder:
• Will be responsible for working with the Squad Leads, Business Engagement Leads and Stakeholders to translate demands / requirements into work packages that can then be delivered within agreed time and cost whilst maintaining agile principles.
• Will have the ability to adapt these plans in line with prioritisation of demand.
• Works on a broad range of complex activities, in a variety of contexts. Can investigate, define and resolve complex issues. Assists in other areas of IT process, service and project.
• Communicates and can present information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to Influences customers, whilst participating in activities relating to own area of expertise.
• Makes decisions which influence the success of projects and team objectives.
• Collaborates regularly with team members, users and customers. Engages to ensure that user needs are being met throughout
• Plans, schedules and monitors work to meet time and quality targets

Core Duties
Typical duties include (but are not limited to):
• Reporting to the SharePoint Squad Lead, the SharePoint Engineer will work under the technical guidance of the SharePoint Technical Lead to deliver and support Enterprise SharePoint
• Working alongside the Business Engagement Leads and fellow SharePoint Engineers to maintain a close working relationship between the EIT SharePoint Product team its stakeholders.
• Work closely with internal customers across all UK Business helping to capture requirements for Business as Usual improvements to their SharePoint deployments, developing innovative solutions then delivering against agreed work packages. Whilst ensuring all SharePoint deployments and developments adhere to internal Governance.
• Attend workshops with customers and other key stakeholders to capture requirements for configuration changes also providing regular demos and gather feedback
• Contribute to discussions and generate new ideas around how to break down requests and deliver value early and often throughout the process, and share knowledge with other members of the SharePoint Product Team.
• Supporting project teams in the upgrade of SharePoint to future versions, closely working with customers, partners and suppliers to effectively and efficiently migrate content from different SharePoint Versions
• Utilises methods, tools, techniques selecting appropriately from plan-driven/predictive approaches or more adaptive (iterative and agile) approaches.
• Deals with problems and issues, managing resolutions, corrective actions, lessons learned and the collection and dissemination of relevant information. Collects and uses feedback from customers and stakeholders to help measure effectiveness of stakeholder management.
• Assists in the development of new or improved practices and organisational processes or standards and facilitates localised improvements to the quality system or services.
• Designs, creates, develops, customises and maintains learning materials and resources to deliver agreed outcomes. Contributes to the design, configuration and testing of environments.

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications
Knowledge:
• Best practice application management in line with ITIL Processes
• Experience of working with the multiple versions of SharePoint
• An experienced individual that has worked in a similar role or environment for at least three years
• An understanding of application development and promotion into multiple environments
• Awareness of business unit policies and procedures
• Experience managing Stakeholders
• Experience of using 3rd party tools such as but not limited to Nintex, K2, Sharegate, Linkfixer

Skills:
• A good level of experience in supporting the delivery of projects and large change requests
• Ability to frequently manage changing priorities and multiple stakeholders, but to keep end-objectives in sight
• Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external partners and working within cross functional and remote teams
• Highly organised, motivated and detail conscious
• Can do attitude, with impact and influencing style
• Committed to learning and continuous improvement
• The natural ability to work in a collaborative, team focussed environment
• Good communication skills (oral, written and presentation) in both formal and informal settings, articulating complex ideas to broad audiences

Qualifications:
• Be trained at least to ITIL foundation and either appropriate ITIL Intermediate or other appropriate capability training (desirable)
• Microsoft MS900 (Mandatory AZ900 (Desirable)

Leadership Responsibilities
• Is generally working to SFIA Level 4
• Has a solid understanding of their capability and is considered professionally competent in discharging the role without significant supervision
• Uses more advanced analysis and diagnostic techniques to get to root cause
• Supervision is generally associated with work allocation and objective achieving rather than work quality and task level
• Has a wide experience in diagnosing and resolving incidents and problems and their trends
• Will carry out communication to senior stakeholders and suppliers
• Benchmarks and reviews improved ways of working within IT.
• Develops and maintain relationships with stakeholders to meet their requirements, including one to one liaison, setting expectations. Interacting effectively and confidently with the Business Customers, IT Management and Vendors

• Understands the global needs of SharePoint Product
• Excellent communications skills with the ability to tell stories, draw pictures and document the performance of your team effectively
• Takes on a lead role, provide consultancy advice and guidance and manage through to completion any functional projects and activities

• Benchmarks and review improved ways of working – continually seeking opportunities for productivity improvement, quality improvement and cost reduction
• Applies technical strategies, policies, standards and practices within own area of responsibility
• Owns specific work areas and coaches and mentors others.
• Has a detailed understanding of Incident & Problem management and will work on the most complex issues with no need for supervision or support
