Senior Simulation Engineer – SIL/HIL (Remote – U.S. Based, EST Preferred)
Are you passionate about advancing future-forward technologies and solving technical challenges that others haven’t even attempted? We’re seeking a Senior Simulation Engineer to take ownership of Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) environments to support our development of next-generation autonomous flight systems.
As a core contributor on the simulation team, you’ll play a vital role in designing and optimizing real-time testing platforms that ensure the performance and reliability of our aircraft systems. You’ll work closely with multiple engineering groups to understand their requirements and deliver high-fidelity simulation environments that drive critical development and certification efforts.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Build and improve simulation software to support both SIL and HIL platforms.
Collaborate with a team of simulation engineers to maintain the project backlog and prioritize needs across integrated product teams.
Create tools and frameworks that increase the availability and efficiency of simulation environments for development and test teams.
Troubleshoot and resolve simulation-related issues to ensure timely data for engineering decisions.
Contribute to long-term strategies for scalable, reliable simulation infrastructure.
What You Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
5+ years of experience in simulation, systems modeling, or software development.
Proficient in C++11 and Python programming languages.
Comfortable working in both Linux and Windows development environments.
Familiarity with version control (Git) and continuous integration/deployment pipelines.
Demonstrated experience with dynamic system modeling and SIL/HIL simulation testbeds.
Solid understanding of software architecture and real-time systems.
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Bonus Points If You Have:
Master’s degree in engineering or related discipline.
Modern C++ skills (C++17 or newer).
Experience with Matlab/Simulink and automated code generation.
Background with CMake, Conan, and GitLab CI/CD.
Knowledge of Functional Mock-up Interface (FMI v2 or v3).
Experience debugging hardware/software integrations at the protocol level.
Understanding of aircraft systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
Familiarity with 3D dynamics concepts such as DCMs and reference frames.
Who You Are:
A hands-on engineer with a proactive mindset who enjoys collaborating across teams.
Driven by results and capable of delivering under pressure.
Able to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, evolving technical environment.
Communicates clearly and tailors messaging for technical and non-technical audiences.
Energized by complex challenges and committed to continuous learning.
