Major Responsibilities:
- Originate and check structural steel deliverables of moderate complexity, including drawings and 3-D models structural design.
- Review Structural steel deliverables of moderate complexity, including drawings and 3-D models for steel.
- Interpret and verify industry standards, guidelines, and codes for project deliverables
- Report design quantities compared to estimated quantities.
- Participate in project design/model reviews.
- Participate in constructability reviews.
- Review and coordinate technical documents with/from other engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor’s degree and 8-10 years of relevant experience or AA/AS degree with 10-12 years of related experience. In lieu of a degree, 14-16 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Advance experience in the use of Autocad and Tekla and or similar software.
- Work experience should emphasize structural steel design of heavy industrial type facilities.
- Must be familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Familiar with the provisions of ASTM, AISC, OSHA, and IBC codes. Knowledge of construction materials and construction details and techniques.
- Familiar with the methods of procurement and control of bulk materials.
- Knowledge of technical responsibilities of other disciplines associated with Facilities Design.
- Ability to independently execute the detailed design drawings of structural systems of moderate complexity.
- Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings and specifications.
- Ability to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbally.
- Ability to resolve design issues with subordinates, other engineering disciplines, construction, and the client.
- Ability to issue clear and concise direction to subordinate designers and drafters.
- Experience in the structural steel design for Nuclear Quality and Safety Environment.
- AA in civil engineering or engineering technology.
- Six Sigma Yellow Belt or higher or working knowledge of other process improvement programs
