Composite Support Worker - C1 driving licence required
Morson Talent are working closely with GKN Aerospace on the Isle of Wright looking for a Composite Support Worker who has a C1 driving licence as our successful candidate will be required to provide logistical support to manufacturing operations
- Contract Duration: Initially 6 months ongoing 6 month review
- Standard Hours: 37 per week
- Other working hours information: Initially the role is on Day Shift, but would be looking to move onto Double Days eventually
- - Day Shift is usually 08.00 to 16.30 Mon – Thurs and 07.45 to 12.45 Fridays although these hours may vary during training
- - Double Day: Week 1: Mon – Fri 6am -2pm then Week 2: 2pm-10pm… rotating weekly
- Rate: Standard Days £12.82 & The Double Day Rates are 25% uplift = £16.03
ROLE PURPOSE:
Provide support to manufacturing operations through the completion of basic manufacturing support tasks in a timely and efficient way.
- Job holders will be required to achieve a “certified” status where applicable and will receive relevant training to undertake their tasks safely, and to a high quality level, through a Job Instruction Process.
- Job holder will be supported by their Team Leader (TL), who will enable training or coaching required to support them in their role and will quickly respond to them if they find any off-standard/quality issues.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cover basic operational activities in support of the manufacturing process such as;
- Performing basic manufacturing tasks such as; gripper repairs, de-greasing, temporary part marking, cutting shims, making consolidation ports or operating simple machinery.
- With training and on awarding of appropriate stamps, supporting more complex processes including strip out and frekote.
- Cutting consumable kits to size as required for the production line
- Cleaning and moving of tools, including using the laser cleaning equipment

Essential

- Works effectively within, and can adhere to standardised processes and/or work instructions.
- Able to work both independently, or as part of a team.
- Demonstrates a high level of attention to detail.
Desirable
- A passion and interest in the Aerospace industry.
- Able to solve problems using a structured method such as Kaizen or similar.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, FORMAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential
- No formal manufacturing experience required – on the job training will be provided as required.
- Good level of literacy and numeracy.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring good level of manual dexterity.
Desirable
- Aerospace and/or manufacturing/composite experience.
- Experience of working within an organisation with a Lean / continuous improvement culture.
- Forklift/PED stacker licence (if applicable within department).
