Morson is delighted to be working in partnership with a market leading Aerospace organisation to recruit a Buyer for an initial 6 Month Fixed Term Contract. There is a salary of £40,000 Per Annum + Benefits on offer for the successful candidate. The role would be full time on site at my clients state of the art operations in Portsmouth, Hampshire.

Description of the role
The Site Buyer is responsible for the procurement of materials, components, and services to support production and operational activities. The role ensures cost-effective purchasing while maintaining quality and delivery requirements, aligning with the company’s aerospace manufacturing standards and regulations.

Responsibilities of the Role

Supplier Management:
o Source, evaluate, and maintain relationships with key suppliers to ensure reliability
and quality.
o Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms to achieve the best value while ensuring compliance with aerospace industry regulations.
o Monitor supplier performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Procurement Process:
o Ensure timely procurement of materials and components to support production schedules.
o Issue purchase orders and manage order confirmations, delivery schedules, and invoice discrepancies.
o Work closely with production, quality, and engineering teams to identify procurement needs.

Cost Control & Budgeting:
o Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality and lead times.
o Assist in developing and managing procurement budgets.
o Support make-or-buy analysis to optimize manufacturing and outsourcing decisions.

Compliance & Documentation:
o Ensure all purchases comply with industry standards such as AS9100, ISO 9001, and company policies.
o Maintain accurate procurement records and reports, including supplier certifications and audits.
o Support internal and external audits by providing required procurement documentation.

Risk Management:
o Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including potential shortages, geopolitical risks, and quality concerns.
o Develop contingency plans to ensure continuity of supply.

Continuous Improvement:
o Implement lean procurement strategies and process improvements.
o Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and market developments to
enhance procurement efficiency.

Mandatory Requirements

- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in procurement, preferably within aerospace or manufacturing industries.
- Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
- Familiarity with aerospace quality standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001).
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Understanding of technical drawings and specifications is an advantage.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
