Highways Design Site Representative

Highways Design Site Representative: 3 days per week immediate. Increasing to 4-5 days summer 2025 for at least a year. Site based for 2 days per week minimum.

Requirements
• CEng
• Experience of working with a contractor on site delivering an RE or similar role on highways civil engineering works (preferably significant experience in these roles 5 years + site work).
• Detailed understanding and knowledge of National Highways design standards, methodologies, systems and tools associated with Design Delivery (i.e. Civil 3D, CAD etc).
• Detailed understanding of construction methodologies for highways works.
• Knowledge of NEC contracts and commercial strategies, processes and procedure.
• Be willing to locate to site for 2-5 days per week.

Preferred
• Knowledge of National Highways drainage design standards, methodologies, systems and tools associated with Design Delivery (i.e. micro-simulation modelling, CAD etc).
• Understanding of construction methodologies for drainage works.

What the role entails:
1. Act as key point of contact for the Contractor and its delivery partners regarding the Consultants Design.
2. Respond to the following when raised by the Contractor with due diligence and care, escalating to the Project Manager where required:
• Request For Information (“RFI”)
• Non-Conformance Requests (NCR)
• Material Approval Requests (MAR)
• Inspecting and Testing Plan’s (ITP)
3. Act as the point of contact with regards to responding or scoping Design Change Requests (DCR’s).
4. Review supply chain technical submissions for acceptance against compliance with design requirements. This includes material proposals (Material Approval Requests), statutory undertaker proposals, product acceptance, etc.
5. Review Inspection and Testing Plans for compliance to design requirements and specifications.
6. Provide inputs to the Contractors progress reporting (assumed monthly) and regular diary records related to their site observations and other responsibilities, as applicable to the role/tasks.
