an exciting contract opportunity we have available for a Highways Design Site Representative based in Cambridgeshire. The role offers a competitive rate of £65-70 per hour and is set to start immediately. The contract initially requires a commitment of 3 days per week, with the expectation of increasing to 4-5 days per week from Summer 2025 for at least one year.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the key point of contact for the contractor and its delivery partners regarding the consultant’s design.
  • Responding to Requests for Information (RFI), Non-Conformance Requests (NCR), Material Approval Requests (MAR), and Inspecting and Testing Plans (ITP) with due diligence.
  • Managing Design Change Requests (DCRs) and reviewing technical submissions for compliance with design requirements.
  • Reviewing Inspection and Testing Plans to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Contributing to progress reporting and maintaining records of site observations.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A CEng qualification (Chartered Engineer).
  • 5+ years of experience working with contractors on site, specifically delivering in an RE or similar role on highways civil engineering projects.
  • A thorough understanding of National Highways design standards and tools such as Civil 3D, CAD, and related design delivery methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methodologies for highways and drainage works.
  • Experience with NEC contracts and the associated commercial strategies, processes, and procedures.
  • Willingness to be based on-site for 2-5 days per week.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Knowledge of National Highways drainage design standards and relevant tools like micro-simulation modelling.
  • An understanding of drainage-related construction methodologies.
