We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Estates and Facilities team at Liverpool University. The role involves performing general electrical maintenance, conducting routine inspections, testing, and replacement of emergency lighting systems across campus buildings. The ideal candidate must possess strong knowledge of electrical systems and hold a valid 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.

Key Responsibilities:
General Electrical Maintenance:
Perform planned and reactive maintenance on a range of electrical systems, including wiring, distribution boards, and control panels.
Diagnose and repair electrical faults in campus facilities, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
Ensure that all electrical installations are compliant with safety regulations.
Emergency Lighting Systems:
Conduct routine testing and inspections of emergency lighting in compliance with relevant regulations.
Replace and install emergency lighting components and systems as required.
Maintain accurate records of all tests, repairs, and replacements.
Safety Compliance:
Ensure that all work adheres to the 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) and other relevant safety and compliance standards.
Support safety audits and inspections, promptly addressing any deficiencies identified.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain up-to-date records of maintenance activities, inspections, and compliance reports.
Communicate effectively with the Estates team, reporting any significant issues or incidents.
Collaboration:
Work closely with other members of the Estates and Facilities team to deliver high-quality maintenance services.
Liaise with external contractors when necessary to complete large-scale electrical projects or repairs.
Essential Requirements:
Qualifications:
NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
City & Guilds 2382-18 (18th Edition) qualification is mandatory.
Inspection and Testing qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds 2391 or 2392) are desirable.
Experience:
Proven experience in electrical maintenance and repair, preferably within a large or complex organisation.
Experience with testing and maintaining emergency lighting systems in line with BS 5266.
Skills:
Strong fault-finding, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices in electrical work.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Good communication and organisational skills.
