Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer to join our engineering design team, providing civil and structural design support for Heathrow Airport and DNO schemes. This is a 6-month contract position, with potential extension to 12 months, based in London (Elephant and Castle) and Heathrow Airport. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing civil and structural designs for new and existing substation projects set for development in 2025/26. Key responsibilities include generating design packages, conducting technical liaison with suppliers and clients, and delivering approved construction drawings. The role requires strong collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, including electrical engineers, quantity surveyors, and CAD technicians, ensuring adherence to project timelines and standards.

Skills:

1. Demonstrable track record in civil and structural design for substation projects in England
2. Strong knowledge of AutoCAD
3. Proficient in MS Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
4. Strong written and oral communication skills
5. Ability to work independently and set own targets
6. Ability to liaise with design and operational teams
7. Capable of approving and signing off designs and reports
8. Sound understanding of substation standards and policies
9. Experience in providing technical liaison with suppliers and clients
10. Strong team player in an interdisciplinary environment

Certifications & Standards:

• Chartered Engineer or close to becoming a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers
