Quantity Surveyor

Quantity Surveyor
Location: Leeds (Hybrid Working Available)
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per year

We are representing a well-established civil engineering company with a strong reputation in the North of England. Specialising in a wide range of civil engineering projects, their portfolio includes works on bridges, highways & infrastructure, utilities, and coastal & flood prevention. The company is known for its stability, commitment to quality, and a strong presence within the local community.

Overall Objective:
To manage the commercial aspects of civil engineering contracts, with a focus on projects involving highways, bridges, utilities, and infrastructure. This role involves overseeing cost control, valuations, sub-contractor relationships, and contractual agreements, ensuring successful project delivery within agreed margins and deadlines.

Key Accountabilities:
Preparation of Interim Valuations and Final Accounts
Procurement of sub-contractors, including recommendations, orders, warranties, and pre-order meetings
Contract administration of sub-contracts (including progress meetings, delay evaluations, variations, day works, clean-up notices, damages, material waste, defects, and relevant notices)
Timely assessment and payment of sub-contractor applications, issuing payment notifications, including contra charges
Final Account agreement of sub-contract accounts
Measurement of quantities both on-site and from drawings, as required
Evaluation and monitoring of variations and provisional sum expenditure
Weekly direct labour and plant subcontractor payments, if necessary
Material cost control
Production of internal valuations, sub-contract liabilities, and cost value reconciliations in line with the commercial reporting timetable
Collaboration with the Site Agent/Project Manager and delivery team to monitor progress, margin impact, and produce joint monthly preliminaries budgets
Maintenance of high-quality and accurate records
Identification and notification of delays in collaboration with the Quantity Surveying line manager

Experience & Qualifications:
Relevant HND or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field
Experience in civil engineering projects, particularly in highways and water sectors, is preferred
Essential experience with NEC contracts
