Exciting Opportunity for a Principal Designer in Central Manchester

Anderselite is pleased to present an exciting opportunity to join a leading architectural practice in Central Manchester as a Principal Designer. This newly established role follows the introduction of the Building Safety Act, evolving from an architects additional responsibility into a vital, standalone position within the practice.

About the Role:

We are seeking a knowledgeable professional in Building Regulations to work closely with our architects and technicians. The role involves supporting and guiding them in fulfilling their responsibilities as designers and principal designers under the updated Building Regulations. While prior CDM experience is preferred, it is not essential, as additional in-house Health and Safety training can be provided.

This position is best suited for a highly organised individual who can manage multiple projects simultaneously and is motivated to uphold the highest standards of building safety and compliance. Industry software expertise (such as CAD, Revit, and compliance software) is not required, as the primary focus is on building safety and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Advise and assist with designer and principal designer duties under the Building Regulations for both HRB and non-HRB projects.

Establish and maintain processes, strategies, and documentation to ensure compliance with Building Regulations.

Respond to design queries related to Building Regulations and proactively collaborate on solutions.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

Extensive experience working with Building Regulations, ideally as an approved inspector, across diverse project types and scales.

In-depth understanding of the Building Regulations as amended by the Building Safety Act 2022, including duty-holder regulations and design guidance such as British Standards.

Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel across the UK as needed.

MCABE Class 2/3 qualification.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.

A professional, proactive, and enthusiastic approach to work.
