Morson Talent is seeking a highly skilled Service and Commissioning Engineer for a leading supplier of electrical engineering solutions in the naval environment. Our client has a long-standing reputation as an innovator in control systems and ruggedised enclosures, with their equipment and systems used globally in a variety of applications.

This role is primarily field-based, with occasional office visits for training, briefings, and customer FATs. Flexibility is a must, as the successful candidate may be required to work away from home for 2-3 weeks at a time, often with short notice. Occasional international travel may also be required, and the role will primarily involve working in naval dockyards and shipyards, with the possibility of vessel visits at sea within UK waters.

Job Description
• Undertake commissioning, setting to work, fault finding, and surveys
• Provide training to customers’ staff
• Prepare detailed reports and recommendations following site visits
• Support a wide range of electrical equipment and systems on board ships and submarines
• Collaborate with sales, engineering, and production teams to provide feedback for functional and user-friendly designs
• Create technical support manuals
• Manage obsolescence planning and provide risk assessments and method statements

Required Qualifications and Experience:
• HNC or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering
• Understanding of Electromechanical Engineering (Motor Control, Power Distribution Transformers, etc.) and basic knowledge of Electronics and PLC systems
• Familiarity with Motor Generators, Static Frequency Converters, and Transformer Rectifier Units (training provided, if necessary)
• Ability to update and maintain PLC programmes and settings
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex wiring and schematic diagrams
• Previous experience in service and fault finding
• Experience in the marine environment and marine power supplies (experience with helicopter systems is an advantage)
• Proficiency in using test equipment, such as voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and load banks

About You:
• Ideally, ex-Royal Navy trained in electrical and electronic equipment maintenance
• Ability to obtain UK MoD SC Clearance
