Senior Civil Design Engineer - 14 month contract
Overview
An established engineering Joint Venture has been awarded an extended 5-year project within a large water management program, focused on multiple sites across Kent and Sussex. The project, operating primarily in the region’s eastern areas, exceeds a budget of £350 million and involves work on both clean and wastewater facilities.
With the AMP7 model transitioning to a more collaborative and efficient delivery approach, the program emphasizes engaging skilled professionals at every project stage—from initial concept through to delivery. The enhanced program framework seeks economic, innovative solutions that meet rigorous regulatory standards, balancing both program delivery and project expertise across disciplines.
Role Overview
We are looking to strengthen our team with a Senior Civil Design Engineer to support engineering design services and optimize project profitability. This role will be located at the Brighton office.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Design Manager, you will:
- Develop cost-effective civil design layouts that meet specifications and facilitate effective construction and commissioning.
- Prioritize the use of standard practices to improve efficiency.
- Provide input and estimates for proposal development.
- Adhere to departmental processes, actively supporting procedural improvement.
- Monitor and enhance design procedures for operational efficiency.
- Ensure comprehensive coordination of designs with internal and external disciplines to benefit the project holistically.
- Maintain thorough documentation and records throughout contract lifecycles.
- Assist in staff supervision and development.
Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
Education: Civil Engineering degree (preferable).
Professional Membership: Chartered or nearing chartership with a recognized professional institution.
Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of water and sewage treatment principles.
Design Competency: Strong ability to optimize designs and create efficient plant layouts.
