We have an exciting new opportunity for a LEAD STRUCTURAL ENGINEER to be based at our clients premises in Cheshire.
About the Opportunity:
The role of Lead Structural Engineer will sit within a pipeline project and will lead a multi-disciplinary team to deliver the Project from SL to PPP delivery responsibility, that satisfies the client and PPP requirements.
PPP has a pipeline of projects that will transition to become major projects, either in after feasibility or during Appraise & Select phases of the gated process.
You will be joining an existing project team that is undertaking these early phases, either appraisal of a longlist or shortlist of options to support the selection of the preferred solution, and the development of that solution to sufficient maturity.
Key Responsibilities:
Defining the structural engineering requirements (basis of design) for the new facility.
Inputting into the layouts being developed by mechanical and process engineering team (e.g. advising on possible RC wall and slab thicknesses).
Reviewing the existing site data and inputting into further site investigations to determine the most appropriate foundation solutions.
Advising on seismic requirements including process required to determine whether or not seismic design is required on this project.
Delivery of the structural engineering design of the new facility through Appraise & Select, Define and Delivery Stages. This will include connections to existing facilities.
Risk identification with proposed resolution / mitigation.
Develop appropriate deliverables list and format (drawings, specifications, reports, BIM etc.).
Quality management and assurance of all Structural Engineering deliverables.
Health & Safety management including production of appropriate designer risk assessments.
Engineering experience demonstrating a record of successful delivery including recent positions influencing professional engineers and guiding technical personnel.
Experience of working within a regulated and quality assured system in roles where professional judgement is the key attribute.
Experience in using and reviewing BIM at work (experienced user of structural engineering software is a minimum requirement).
Experience in managing engineering processes and Assets.
Working collaboratively with other engineering disciplines and wider stakeholders.
