Waterway Operative

Role Overview:

As a Waterways Operative, you will play a key role in the maintenance and upkeep of our waterways in and around Leeds. This is a physically demanding role that requires you to work in all weather conditions, helping ensure that the waterways remain safe, clean, and fully operational for the community. You will be working in a 4 on, 2 off shift rota, offering a great balance of work and rest.

Key Responsibilities:

• Waterways Maintenance: Carry out maintenance work along the waterways, including litter collection, vegetation control, and general cleaning.
• Health & Safety: Ensure all tasks are completed in line with safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Team Collaboration: Work effectively as part of a team to complete projects on time and to a high standard.
• Vehicle Operation: Drive and maintain company vehicles, ensuring safe transport of equipment and materials to and from work sites.
• Customer Service: Interact with the public where necessary, providing information and maintaining a professional attitude.
• Emergency Response: Assist with emergency call-outs for issues such as flooding, obstructions, or environmental hazards.
