We have an excellent opportunity for a Principal Process Engineer with our Client within the nuclear industry.

The role is based in Preston, Lancashire and can be worked on a hybrid basis.

Job Description:

Candidates should be versatile and experienced Principal Process Engineer who can take projects from initial specification through to delivery of an operational asset, managing all the relevant Process Engineering design elements throughout, with the ability and knowledge to lead the work of other engineering disciplines.

Main Responsibilities:

Leading a team of engineers to develop a detailed Process Engineering design for a new build project.
Taking a lead role in the commissioning of your design.
Develop commissioning documents and actively leading commissioning activities.
Developing a design that is compliant with the required regulations, including DSEAR, PSSR and Functional Safety.
Working as an intelligent customer to support a contract engineering company to deliver a compliant design.
Working with the safety team to support the HAZOP process and develop the required engineering substantiation reports.

Essential Criteria:

Degree in Chemical Engineering or closely related subject and a relevant level of experience.
Experience in developing process plant design deliverables in a highly regulated industry.
Experience of the HAZOP process.
Knowledge of the legislative, regulatory, quality and environmental requirements relating to engineering design projects, specifically around hazardous area classification, pressure relief system design and functional safety.
Experience of specifying and supporting the procurement of equipment.
Experience of producing design substantiation reports.
Experience of commissioning hazardous processes.
Evidence of problem solving and seeking solutions.

Ability to obtain BPSS level security clearance (this includes but is not limited to identity, employment and criminal record checks, UK citizenship and not have worked outside the UK for the past 5 years)

Desirable Criteria:

Chartered Engineer.
Experience of flammable gas storage design.
Experience within the nuclear industry.
Good presentation skills.
