Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

Job Duties:

• Prepare cost estimates for materials, labour, and equipment
• Conduct site visits and evaluations to gather data for pricing
• Analyse blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labour estimates
• Negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors
• Monitor project progress and costs to ensure budget compliance
• Prepare and submit progress and cost reports to management
• Resolve any discrepancies or issues related to costs and contracts

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or related field
• Professional accreditation (e.g. RICS) preferred
• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the engineering industry
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills
• Excellent negotiation and communication abilities

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or related field

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the engineering industry

Knowledge and Skills:

• Proficient in cost estimating and budget management
• Knowledge of construction methods and materials
• Strong understanding of contract law and negotiation techniques
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Excellent IT skills, including MS Excel and project management software

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional accreditation such as RICS
• Postgraduate qualification in Quantity Surveying

Working Conditions:

• Office-based work with occasional site visits
• Full-time hours, Monday to Friday
• Travel within the South East England region may be required
