We’re looking for a Chemistry Services Manager. Based at our Capenhurst site location you’ll be accountable for leading, motivating and developing the Chemistry Services team ensuring exemplar delivery of the chemistry analytical service to the Capenhurst site. In addition, the CS Manager holds the role of Chemistry Local Process Owner (LPO) for the Capenhurst site.

What you’ll do:
• Leads and motivates a team of staff and assigns their responsibilities to ensure the safe and effective delivery of analytical data needed for production control, product certification and demonstration of regulatory compliance for the Capenhurst site businesses.
• Lead by providing clear direction and alignment to deliver against objectives to support operations and activities on site.
• Manage the team by flexing capacity to meet demand, defining training and development needs and managing and devising appropriate resourcing strategies.
• Ensure the culture & behaviours within the team align with that of the wider Capenhurst to create an engaged workforce and an improved worker experience.
• Forward plans to identify the resources, including trained staff, equipment and support services, needed to ensure smooth operation of the department and ensures that those resources are available.

• Formulates the annual department budget and controls it once agreed
• Accountable for identifying and delivering continuous improvement across all aspects of the departments operations and processes
• Ensures that CS operations are carried out safely and that any events are investigated appropriately and LfE shared as needed.
• Establishes and maintains the local management system and ensures all working instructions are in compliance with applicable regulatory and governance requirements and fully meet any required group policies/standards.
• Acts as Local Process Owner for Chemistry
• Leads local Chemistry related investigations and shares any lessons learned with Chemistry GPO and LPOs from the other sites
• Acts as SSoW (Safe System of Work) Local Site Authority for Chemistry Services
What do you need to thrive in this role?
• Graduate in scientific/technical discipline or equivalent professional qualification may possess a postgraduate degree
• Significant experience of working in a busy laboratory in a leadership capacity
• Experience of working to set procedures.
• Ability to interact with and influence a wide range of personnel
• Experience of improving current systems and processes
• Excellent Leadership skills, including the ability to motivate staff, inspire commitment and enthusiasm and to recognise and manage performance.
• Effective communication skills, oral/written/presentation, in order to communicate across a wide range of stakeholders within and outside the company with the ability to clearly communicate technical issues to non-specialist and senior level audiences.
• Ability to interact well with and influence a wide range of people.
• Ability to negotiate both within Urenco and with external bodies.
• Ability to plan work in the medium term and take a strategic outlook, both departmental and Company wide, with a broad understanding of the overall Group business goals and objectives.
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of organisational procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to work in a thorough and structured manner to ensure that the integrity of operational processes and outcomes are not compromised.
