We’re looking for a Sustainability Procurement Specialist. Based at our Capenhurst location, you’ll be responsible for delivering and implementing sustainable procurement strategies in collaboration with the Procurement Category Management Team that support the delivery of Urenco’s sustainability targets.
You’ll also be responsible for ensuring that purchasing activities are environmentally responsible, socially equitable, in accordance with the legislative governance requirements across all Urenco’s supply territories, and remain economically viable under the strategic direction of the Sustainable Procurement Manager.
This role will require regular travel to suppliers both in the UK and internationally in order to support and embed pathways to decarbonisation into our supply chain partners.
At Urenco we’re committed to giving you opportunities to be your best. If you feel you meet some, but not all of what were looking for, please still apply. We believe in embracing the passion and potential of our people, and to achieve this we offer market leading training and development experiences. Along with the opportunity to be mentored and coached by some of the smartest minds in the industry.
What you’ll do:

- Support the Procurement Category Management Team to drive Urenco sustainability objectives delivery into the supply base ensuring they are targeted, skilled, equipped and motivated to drive down supplier Scope 3 emissions in line with the agreed targets.
- Educate the Urenco team and target suppliers with levers to drive down emissions and support suppliers in implementation of improvement measures while working in close collaboration with Category Management who own the overall supplier relationship.
- Drive consistency in supplier sustainability reporting e.g. promoting and managing supplier ESG deliverables with a primary focus on the ‘E’ such as Scope 1, 2 & 3 decarbonisation data and a broader focus on the ‘S&G’ such as human rights and diversity indicators being reported in Ecovadis.
- Deliver year-on-year improvements in supplier sustainability reporting e.g. EcoVadis scorecards, medal achievement improvements, sustainability improvement plans and corrective actions close out delivery.
- Liaise and support the Procurement Governance Team, Procurement Data Analytics Team, Group Finance and Sustainability Teams to provide robust supplier data for internal and external sustainable Procurement reporting. e.g. shift from Scope 3 EEIO Method to Hybrid Method reporting
- Future proof the Urenco strategy by seeking out global best practice, developing and understanding of future regulatory and legislative changes which will impact Urenco supplier management. Liaise with Government Affairs as necessary.
What do you need to thrive in this role?
- Experience of identifying sustainability (ESG) supplier risk, developing risk mitigation actions and tracking progress against agreed mitigation actions
- Good comprehension of sustainability reporting requirements across UK, Europe and the United States e.g. CSDDD, CSRD, CBAM and supplier diversity indicator reporting.
- Experience in the delivery of reports and presentations to peers and senior management.
- Experience delivering training and managing multiple stakeholders to peers and senior management.
- Knowledge of ESG Reporting compliance
- Previous experience working in a regulated environment with sustainability targets across ESG.
