Civil Engineers

At Morson, we’re proud to partner with an industry leader seeking talented Civil Engineers to support critical projects within the UK’s nuclear sector. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a growing organisation dedicated to innovation, excellence, and the UK’s Net Zero ambitions.

Why Join Us?
Your career is our priority, and we’re committed to helping you thrive professionally and personally. In addition to competitive salaries, you’ll enjoy:

Healthcare Benefits: Free single medical cover and access to a digital GP service.
Family Support: Enhanced parental leave pay and membership to family-friendly programmes.
Professional Growth: Reimbursement for relevant professional memberships and development opportunities.
Giving Back: Paid volunteering time, charitable donations, and matched funding through our community programme.
Flexibility: Options for hybrid working, part-time hours, and tailored working patterns.
The Opportunity
This role sits within the Nuclear Power and Engineering Technical Services (NPETS) team, supporting critical civil engineering projects across New Build, Life Extension, Generation, and Defuelling programmes. You’ll also contribute to exciting opportunities with Small Modular Reactor (SMR) developers.

The UK’s nuclear fleet currently generates 16% of the country’s power, but maintaining this capability requires hundreds of complex, multi-disciplinary projects – and that’s where you come in.

What You’ll Do
As a Civil Engineer, you’ll deliver innovative and efficient engineering solutions across a range of projects. Working closely with Operations Managers, Engineering Managers, and Principal Engineers, your role will involve:

Analysing and verifying input data to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Producing key design deliverables, such as assumption notes, technical specifications, and calculation notes.
Performing design and analysis tasks for reinforced concrete and steel structures.
Reviewing and preparing nuclear safety case documents, including Safety Functional Requirements (SFRs) and Design Substantiation Reports (DSRs).
Collaborating with the Office of Nuclear Regulation (ONR) to justify and develop design decisions.
Managing CDM Designers’ Risk Registers and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
Supporting SMR developers through the ONR’s Generic Design Assessment (GDA) process.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a driven professional with the following:

Education: Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, working towards chartership with ICE or IStructE.
Experience: Design office background, particularly in reinforced concrete and steel structure design.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in finite element modelling software, with experience in validation and verification of tools and outputs.
Knowledge: Familiarity with Eurocodes and a good understanding of design tools in a BIM environment.
Desirable: Experience in nuclear or highly regulated industries, including UK Nuclear Licensing and GDA processes.
Your interpersonal skills will be just as important as your technical expertise. You’ll need to build strong relationships with colleagues and clients alike, contributing to a collaborative, solutions-focused culture.

Our Culture
Safety, integrity, inclusion, and diversity form the foundation of everything we do. We’re committed to fostering a supportive, inclusive environment where everyone can achieve their potential. Your mental health and well-being matter to us, and we’re proud to promote a culture of care and belonging.
