HSE Apprentice (Health and Safety)

We’re looking for a HSE Apprentice (Health and Safety). Based at our Capenhurst location, you’ll be supported in developing competence and experience with a view to providing a range of basic advice and support in the subject areas covered by the HSE department as required. You will also contribute to the safe and compliant conduct of operations on the Capenhurst site.

What you’ll do:

  • To develop competence and experience towards providing pragmatic and useful advice, guidance and support to the Capenhurst businesses in one or more of the following areas of expertise:
    • Occupational Health and Safety
    • Health and Wellbeing
    • Resilience, Business Continuity and Emergency Planning
  • Contribute to developing and implementing company processes to ensure company compliance with legislative, regulatory and company policy standards and advising on the practical application within the business
  • Working towards being able to provide support to the business in the identification, generation and implementation of learning opportunities and subsequent improvements
  • Working towards delivering a range of generic HSE activities as required by departmental management, including leading and contributing to investigations, audits and inspections, and continual improvement
  • Provide positive influence across Capenhurst in terms of HSE standards and behaviours
  • To work towards and complete a HSE Apprenticeship following a scheme of work obtaining both HSE relevant qualifications and experience along the way

What do you need to thrive in this role?

  • Minimum of 5 GCSE’s grades 4 or above
  • Capability and commitment towards obtaining a NEBOSH General Certificate
  • Ability to work on own initiative and programme own work.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills including good interpersonal skills necessary to work in a team environment and to liaise with all levels of the organisation to explain reasons for decisions made and to gain buy in from others.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
