Senior Contract Manager/Quantity Surveyor

Our client Scottish Power Renewables are currently recruiting for a Senior Contract Manager/Quantity Surveyor to join their team based in London or Glasgow on a contract basis initially. Ideally for this role they are looking for an experienced Contract Manager with a background as a Quantity Surveyor as well as having relevant sector experience within utilities, oil and gas or renewables. Main Purpose of Job

The Engineering & Construction Contract Manager role will provide contractual management support to the wide range of activities covered by the Iberdrola Offshore Wind Engineering & Construction team. This will include leading the tendering, award and contractual management for contracts ranging from very small contracts to multi-million pound / euro offshore works such as:
• Specialist consultancy.
• Consultancy frameworks.
• Licences.
• Offshore geophysical surveys.
• Offshore geotechnical surveys.
• Wind and metocean monitoring campaigns.
• Research and development works.
• Offshore meteorological mast removal.
• Ad-hoc team support such as external venue hire.

In addition to these main tasks the role will include supporting and sometimes leading departmental inputs to commercial aspects of technical projects such as the development and update of wind farm decommissioning cost models, development of cost estimates for site setup for new projects in development, analysis and justification of cost reduction strategies, assisting in departmental event planning and monitoring / reporting departmental expenditure against the department budget.

Key Tasks

• Develop and maintain a plan of contract support to Engineering and Construction required (year look-ahead).
• Establish documentation for tenders required from relevant technical specialists, legal and other relevant departments.
• Liaise with Procurement, Legal and other corporate departments to initiate and progress tenders including ensuring a clear contractual approach that considers relevant data protection and cybersecurity measures (as advised by the Data Protection team).
• Manage the tender process alongside procurement getting technical input from the relevant team members and directly managing contractual negotiation in liaison with Iberdrola legal, tax, insurance, data protection and other relevant teams as required
• On completion of the tender process manage the process of contract finalisation, internal approval and signatures to finalise contracts in a timely manner
• Manage the mini-tender and call-off processes for framework contracts.
• Once contracts are in place support the technical lead in ensuring works are administered according to each contract

• Develop and maintain a clear understanding of the departmental budget available to Engineering and Construction and track / forecast expenditure against it reporting on monthly basis
• Track project spending on Engineering & Construction held contracts for re-allocation against project budgets.
• Maintain, update and improve cost model for wind farm decommissioning in time for annual audit.
• Assist with department event planning and delivery.

Key Criteria
• Bachelors degree or higher in Business Administration, Law, Engineering or similar.
• 5 years of relevant contract management experience.
• 3 years of experience in a technical / engineering / project delivery environment.
• Basic understanding of offshore health and safety, environmental and quality requirements. • Basic understanding data protection and cybersecurity practices.
