Our client Scottish Power Renewables are currently recruiting for a Senior SCADA Engineer to join their team based in London or Glasgow on a long-term contract basis initially. Ideally for this role they are looking for an experienced SCADA Engineer with experience of SCADA Systems and Industry standard data exchange protocols such as IEC 60807-5-104/Modbus/OPC as well as a relevant background. Main Purpose of Job
The position involves all activities related to the delivery of the complete SCADA and communications infrastructure within the scope of the offshore renewables project.
Key Tasks
• Reviewing SCADA and telecommunication documents from suppliers (i.e. WTG, Substation Control Systems)
• Reviewing internal project documentation with SCADA & telecommunications requirements
• Managing project SCADA and telecommunication requirements
• Creating, maintaining and updating documents such as test schedules and reports
• Management of suppliers and contractors to ensure SCADA and telecommunications programme and technical delivery is aligned with overall project programme and Employer’s Requirements
• Attending factory acceptance tests, interoperability tests, site acceptance tests, onshore commissioning and offshore commissioning
• Creating relevant SCADA & telecommunications documentation throughout all project phases.
Key Criteria
Essential
• Degree in Electrical/Control/Computing (Engineering) or equivalent.
• Experience of SCADA systems and industry standard data exchange protocols such as IEC 60807-5-104 / Modbus /OPC is essential experience of these protocols within windfarm systems is desired.
• Knowledge of industrial network and database applications related to SCADA is essential.
• Short periods of Offshore working will likely be required so relevant offshore tickets/certificates are required.
Desirable
• Knowledge or experience with any of the following would be advantageous: o Wind farm and wind turbine control systems
o Communications systems, including, Networking, fibre optics, VTMS and radio links o Familiarized with IT/Server infrastructure o HV Substation control systems and HV safety rules. o Reactive power compensation and regulation. o OFTO regime and Renewable incentive schemes o National Grid connected systems (Metering / Monitoring), and interfaces. o Knowledge or experience with reactive power compensation and regulation.
