Morson are currently recruiting on behalf of BAE SYSTEMS for an experienced S1000D Technical Author for a 16-month contract although likely to be long-term. Should the role be of interest, please apply.

This role will be 2 days on site ideally, this can be worked out from the Portsmouth, Glasgow or Filton (Bristol) sites. The rest of the week will be working from home is desired.

Pay rate is £39.00 per hour plus £5.47 per hour Holiday Pay / £51.46 per hour Umbrella optional 

37 hours a week

This is a key role within the technical documentation team that is responsible, and accountable for the preparation and creation of Technical Documentation.
• Validate OEM manuals for editorial content create reports to be provided to the Senior Technical Documentation Engineer (Information).
• Ensure that the Technical Data and Documentation specifications are complete, coherent and consistent before being sent to Sub Contractors.
• Liaison with other engineering, supply chain, support functions and Training teams as required across the business.

Core duties:

Analysis of delivery requirements across the full scope of information delivery.
Produce integrated Training and Technical documentation production requirements.
Review source information and media
Conducting editorial reviews of supplier information.
Ensuring production specifications are produced appropriately for sub-contracted production.
Answer questions from sub-contractors about the production specifications
Utilise databases to establish ship fit systems and equipment configuration
Ensure that data is configuration controlled and audit trail is recorded and documented
Documentation produced is ‘fit for purpose’ and complies with governed business quality and production processes.
Ensure that allocated tasks are completed in accordance with agreed timescales as directed by supervisor/line manager
Provide feedback on work in progress. Report any issues that may impact on delivery/budget/quality to supervisor
Liaise with key stakeholders, such as IPS and design to ensure that the latest information has been captured.
Broad and good understanding of MS Word, XML, SGML, S1000D
